The Mount Mercy Health Services Administration Program is the only state approved baccalaureate program in Iowa for Nursing Home Administration.

1. As health services continue to expand and diversify, the employment of health service managers is expected to grow faster than the average for all occupations through the year 2006.

2. Most health service administrators are employed by hospitals, but the fastest employment growth will be in home health care agencies, long-term care facilities and practitioners' offices and clinics.

All classes are offered in an accelerated format: 5 weeks, 8 weeks or 10 weeks.

The Curriculum:

  • General Education Core: Challenges and broadens the knowledge of students in a variety of disciplines.

  • Management Core: Builds a foundation of concepts in accounting, business management, business law, human resource management and industrial relations.

  • Professional Health Core: Prepares the students in organizational management, regulations, resident care management, environmental management and financial management as related to the health care industry.

  • Practicums: Experiential opportunities in a setting appropriate to the student's focus of study.

  • Electives: Offers choices to students as they pursue special areas of interest.
